Roller Doors

On-Site Measuring Guide Roller Doors

All measurements must be taken from inside the garage/carport looking out - VILO (Viewed Inside Looking Out).

Step One: Measure the width of the opening at its widest point.
This is the distance between the left and right sides of the finished door opening.

Step Two: Measure the height of the opening at its highest point.
This is the distance between the floor and the top of the finished opening.

Step Three: Measure the width of the areas beside the opening, commonly referred to as 'sideroom'. Minimum sideroom requirements vary according on the size of the door, though generally a minimum of 90 mm for a single door or 125mm for a double door is required on each side of the opening in order for a Roller Door to be fitted.

Step Four: Measure the height of the area between the top of the door opening and the ceiling (or lowest obstruction), commonly referred to as 'headroom'. Sufficient headroom must be available to accommodate the size of the doors rear roll when the door is in the open position. Headroom requirements differ according to the height of the door and the subsequent length of the curtain.
The following minimums are required:
• Up to 2100mm high = 430mm min
• 2101 - 2700mm high = 450mm min
• 2701 - 3000mm high = 470mm min

Note: The above information is intended to be used as a guide only. It is recommended that (where possible) a re-measure and site check be performed by an L.A. Bayside Garage Doors & Gates representative.
Measuring Tips
